Compact Track Loader Undercarriage Maintenance

Proper rubber track and undercarriage maintenance is crucial to keeping repair costs and downtime to a minimum. Make it a habit to perform daily visual inspections of undercarriage components and tracks. Inspect all undercarriage components for any foreign objects, excessive wear, and damage. Overly worn or damaged undercarriage components can affect rubber track performance and durability.

Maintenance Tips

• Maintain proper track tension by checking and adjusting your track tension. Virtually all modern rubber tracked equipment utilize tensioners to tighten the idler to the track. Use the proper grease as recommended by the manufacturer to tighten the track tensioner.
• Most idlers and rollers are permanently sealed and lubricated, however they, along with sprockets and tracks should be replaced periodically depending on the wear.
• Do not allow the track sidewall to rub or press against hard surfaces while operating. This causes premature wear and possible exposure of the inner steel cords, leading to track failure.
• Immediately clean off any fluids like oil and grease that may get on the tracks.
• Although it is better to keep your machine busy and moving, if you are storing your machine for an extended period of time makesure to keep it out of the rain and direct sunlight.
